Welcome to CantoMando! I am your teacher Jojo Hong. I was born in Guangzhou, China, and I moved to Vancouver when I was 13. I am fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin. Many years ago I started doing freelance translation work, then one day a client said to me, "Jojo, why don't you teach Chinese?".
I had my first lesson ten years ago, I realized how much fun I had teaching Chinese and has become a passion for me now to continue to share this language with everyone. Today, in addition to teaching privately at home I also teach level 1 Cantonese at Vancouver Community College.
Currently all lessons are one-on-one and lessons are held in downtown Vancouver. These lessons are generally one to two hours in length, once or twice per week.
Lesson Cost Information:
Lessons are $35/hour. (The length of lessons varies from 30 mins to 2 hrs.)
Discounts are available for advanced payments. For advanced payment of 4 hrs, I offer a discounted rate of $30 per hour. For advanced payments of 10 hrs, I offer a discounted rate of $25 per hour.
Please contact me directly if you are interested in taking lessons with a partner (one teacher vs two students)
An invoice can be provided upon request.
